The airport is located in the heart of London, just six kilometres from the Canary Wharf business district and less than 10 kilometres from central London. From the airport there are direct connections to the DLR station, which means you can reach Canary Wharf in just 13 minutes. Whether you are traveling on business and just have a few hours to spend or are visiting London’s sights, there is a myraid of things to see and do in the UK capital.
The London Eye is a giant ferris wheel on the Thames’ South Bank, and offers magnificent views over London from up to 135 metres in the sky.
For a quick overview of the city, take a guided tour on one of the city's many sightseeing double-decker buses. Alternatively take a boat tour along the Thames and, with excellents views of the city’s famous skyline, you can soak up a number of London's sights on the way.
World famous sights such as Buckingham Palace, Big Ben, the Tower of London, Tower Bridge can be viewed from many vantage points around the city. London’s street markets are also worth exploring including the Petticoat Lane market in the East End, Camden Market in Camden Town and the renowned Portobello Road market in Notting Hill. If you prefer to shop in department and chain stores visit Oxford Street, a popular 2.5km-long shopping street, as well as Regent’s Streetnearby.
A visit to London should include at least one museum, with exhibitions in the Victoria & Albert Museum (the V&A), the British National Gallery of Art and Design, Madam Tussaud's Wax Museum and the Tate Modern, anart museum by the Thames, to choose from. The latter is housed in an old power station, which provides a great backdrop for the priceless contemporary art on display.
For a more relaxing stay, enjoy a leisurely afternoon in one of the many pubs, cafes or restaurants. Or, if you’d like to be entertainment, catch a show at one of the many theatres across the city centre.
